Community-Based Solar Projects
Mohave Electric Cooperative has demonstrated its commitment to our members and our community by facilitating funding for an extensive program of community-based photovoltaic installations. More than $1.5 million has been invested in 45 solar projects at schools, government buildings, fire stations, and non-profit facilities. Mohave’s renewable energy plan, as approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC), provides most of the funding for the photovoltaic projects. The Co-op also facilitated additional funding for the projects through a federal stimulus grant (ARRA) and private donations.
These projects bring immediate economic development dollars to our local community during the construction phase and provide sustainable long-term benefits to members as taxpayers by saving energy dollars and lowering the operating cost of government and schools over the lifetime of the solar systems. Mohave plans more community-based solar projects in the future.
