PetSmart Saving a Little Extra for the Pets
Bullhead City, AZ – PetSmart recently participated in Mohave Electric Cooperative’s Commercial Lighting Rebate program and received a rebate of almost $1,000 with the purchase of LED lamps.
The nearly 12,000 square foot PetSmart facility located off HWY 95 updated lighting fixtures throughout the sales floor to reduce energy usage and lower their monthly electric bill. The project included replacing 445 fluorescent lamps with 308 new LED lamps reducing their electric usage and electric demand by approximately 10 KW monthly, an estimated $107 savings each month! Switching to new, efficient LED lights, PetSmart was able to reduce lighting by over 100 bulbs and keep the same quality of lighting for their customers’ convenience.
PetSmart was able to save three different ways through this upgrade. First, PetSmart applied for and received a $980.04 rebate on the purchase of new LED lamps through MEC’s rebate program. PetSmart also reduced the number of lamps needed for quality lighting, approximately an $835 savings. And lastly, PetSmart will continue to save approximately $107 per month on their energy cost by switching from fluorescent lamps to energy efficient LED lamps.
MEC’s board member, Michael Bartelt states, “Small improvements can lead to large savings, and Mohave Electric Cooperative is here to assist businesses with lowering their overhead expenses, so they can better serve their customers. We encourage all commercial account owners to explore our commercial lighting rebate program and reduce their energy usage.”
A commemorative check was provided to the Bullhead City PetSmart to be displayed as a reminder of the savings that can be achieved through MEC’s rebate programs. These programs are available on a yearly basis and large commercial accounts can also update their lighting in phases.
