Community News, Press Releases December 12, 2022 at 5:57 p.m. Winter Snowstorm Causes MEC Outage At 6:37 p.m. Sunday, December 11, Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) members in the eastern service area lost power due to an extreme snowstorm. The heavy snowfall and wind broke a crossarm on MEC’s 69KV sub-transmission line to the Nelson Substation. This outage affected 483 members in the Peach Springs, Grand Canyon Caverns, Supai, and Pica areas. This time, the wind blew an energized piece of equipment into another piece of equipment causing damage to the electric line.
