High Winds Caused Massive Power Outage

Bullhead City, AZ – Approximately 36,000 residents of Bullhead City are out of power due to massive wind storm.

This evening around 6:30 p.m., a wind storm took out more than 50 distribution poles which runs along a transmission provider line that’s now down too, Fortunately, no one was injured.

Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) crews along with crews from other AZ cooperatives are immediately at work to resolve the outage. MEC anticipates that while replacing the 50 poles, it will take more than 12 hours to start restoring power, with the latest restoration lasting greater than 24 hours.

There is Cooling Center at the Sunrise Elementary School in Bullhead City, 2645 Landon Drive, Bullhead City, AZ., and at Mohave Valley Fire Station #81 at 1451 Willow Drive, Mohave Valley, AZ.
