BULLHEAD CITY, AZ – A non-MEC construction crew damaged overhead power lines located on the corner of Route 66 and E. Powell Lake Rd. in Golden Shores early Monday afternoon, resulting in 923 MEC members without power.
Power went out at 12:34 p.m.. Through switching, 659 members were restored by 5:03p.m. and we are currently working to restore all remaining members as soon as possible. MEC crews are on site and diligently working on repairs to replace crossarms and primary overhead wire to restore power. The outage affects MEC members in the Golden Shores, AZ service area and is also affecting several Golden Shores Water Company customers.
CEO Tyler Carlson stated “Mohave Electric realizes this outage affected many people in our southern service territory. We are also aware there is triple-digit temperature today. Mohave Electric is donating bottled water for our members in the Training Room at the Golden Shores Fire Department. Please be patient and try to stay cool.”
