Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) recognizes the importance of higher education and is proud to present the 2024 MEC Scholarship Program. “Education, Training, and Information” is 1 of the 7 Cooperative Principles upheld by MEC. We believe in contributing to the quality of life in our communities, even to the youngest of our members, when we can.

CEO Tyler Carlson envisioned a supplementary, MEC-awarded scholarship, and the finance team created an assigned capital credits account to create such a program. This annual scholarship is in addition to the thousands of dollars provided to Mohave Community College (MCC) to award student scholarships.

We caught up with Brooklyn Anderson, 2023 MEC Scholarship Program recipient, and she had this to say about receiving her scholarship award, “Mohave Electric has had a huge impact on my ability to attend school and pursue my passion of becoming a doctor. I am now coming up on my senior year of my bachelor’s degree with better grades and less debt with help from Mohave Electric. Their dedication to the community and use of funds to help others has been an excellent asset in my career goals and I am forever grateful for what they have done for not only myself but for the whole community.”

Students who are a member of MEC, or a legal dependent of a member, for at least the past 2 years at the date of application, and who are enrolled at a college or university, are eligible to apply for assistance up to $5,000.

Applying is easy, simply fill out the scholarship application and write a short essay, requiring research for recommendations on how one of MEC’s programs may be expanded. Scholarship information and applications are available on our website at the MEC Scholarship page.

All applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26. A panel of judges will be chosen to make final selections and scholarship check(s) will be sent on the awardee’s behalf to the designated college or university.
