MEC Works Fast to Restore Power to 1,500 Members

Friday evening at 7:12 P.M. in northern Bullhead City, along the Bullhead Pkwy near Landon Dr. south to Silver Creek Rd., approximately 1,500 Mohave Electric Cooperative members and businesses lost power when electrical equipment, an arrestor, performed as expected. Crew members replaced the arrestor and all affected MEC members had power restored at 8:22 P.M.

Electric utility systems use arrestors as system protection devices. Specifically, an arrestor provides protection similar to a household power strip/surge protector to avoid damaging electrical equipment.

Multiple members without power called to not only report the outage, they also provided great information as many reported seeing the trouble location allowing MEC to narrow the troubleshooting area. “Members are an active part of the power restoration process. We encourage and appreciate when members share where they see concerns. We all work together to keep the lights on, that’s the cooperative way. “said Rick Campos, MEC COO.
