BULLHEAD CITY, AZ – Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) awarded eighteen $200 classroom grants to educators in need of financial assistance in making classroom learning more engaging.
Eighteen of the twenty-eight applications were awarded. A team at MEC evaluated the projects submitted by educators based on creativity, following application instructions, classroom integration, as well as benefits and financial need to students. Classroom Grants are funded by assigned capital credits at no cost to the cooperative or its members. “Every year teachers throughout the MEC service area turn in creative project ideas,” said Heather Foreman, public affairs coordinator, “it’s never an easy process, but we only have eighteen grants to award.”
Project ideas ranged from science, reading, math, drama, cooking, social studies, to engineering and public safety. The eighteen selected educators represented schools: Academy of Building Industries High School, Bullhead City Middle School, Camp Mohave Elementary School, Desert Star Academy, Diamondback Elementary School, Fort Mohave Elementary School, Fox Creek Junior High School, Mohave Accelerated Elementary School, Mohave High School, Peach Springs Elementary School, River Valley High School, and Sunrise Elementary School.
