MEC Accepts Application for New Scholarship Program

Bullhead City, AZ – Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) is proud to announce the 2022 MEC Scholarship Program, a new grant program for students within the MEC service area attending college in 2022 fall semester or quarter.

Students attending college are eligible to apply for assistance up to $5,000. All applications must be received by 5 p.m. on April 30, 2022. A panel of judges will make final selections and scholarship checks will be sent on the awardee’s behalf to the designated college or university.

For eligibility, students must be a member of the Cooperative or be a legal dependent of a member of the Cooperative for at least the past two years at the date of application. The student must be enrolled at a college or university and must present a current schedule of fees from the current semester of classes they are taking. The application includes submission of a short essay requiring research for recommendations on how an MEC program may be expanded.

MEC CEO Tyler Carlson said, “Education, Training, and Information is one of the 7 Cooperative Principles upheld by MEC. One way MEC shows commitment to this principle, and our community, is by supporting the future of even the younger members, when we can. MEC established this new scholarship program that is funded by assigned capital credits.”

The application can be found at the MEC Scholarship page or at the Member Service Office at 928 Hancock Rd, Bullhead City, AZ 86442.
