LIGHTNING STRIKE CAUSES POWER LINE DAMAGE IN EASTERN SERVICE AREA

BULLHEAD CITY, AZ – On Thursday, August 11 at 5:14pm, 602 Mohave Electric Cooperative (MEC) members in the eastern service area lost power for approximately two hours. This outage affected members in the Hualapais and Pinion Pine area.

Extreme storms continue to plague MEC’s eastern service area. This time, lightning struck the power lines causing damage to the lines and opening a breaker in the substation. Crews made repairs to the line and closed the open circuit breaker restoring power to all members at 7:05pm.
