4 Students Selected for MEC’s Washington Youth Tour

BULLHEAD CITY, AZ – The evening of April 20, 2021 was an exciting night for four eleventh grade students from the surrounding high schools within the Mohave Electric Cooperative service territory.

“Washington Youth Tour is a life changing trip for students to embark on as they dive deeper into the history of the U.S. governing body. Students have the opportunity to experience first-hand our nation’s capital by standing face-to face with historic monuments and congressional representatives,” says Bo Hellams, Public Affairs Supervisor.

MEC congratulates Brooklyn Anderson, Cassie Gill, Enrique Vollaire, and Richard Duncan for working hard to be part of such a great program for the youth. The application process consists of a written assignment accompanied with a small question piece. From there qualifying students are invited to an in-person interview. The selected students presented to a committee of judges sourced from the local community. MEC thanks those judges that gave their time to help select the winning students.

Due to COVID 19, finalists this year have the option to attend the in-person tour in 2022 or receive a scholarship towards college.

We encourage all 2021 junior class students to apply this year for the Washington Youth Tour for 2022. Details about this program can be found on our website at www.mohaveelectric.com. Application process begins in October 2021.
