Air Conditioning Rebate

MEC has listened to the requests of our members and will now be implementing a rebate for the installation of high efficiency air conditioning units. The objective of this new High Efficiency Air Conditioning Program is to encourage high efficiency improvements in (non-heat pump) residential and small commercial cooling equipment.

The program will provide rebates, equivalent to the High Efficiency Heat Pump Program, ranging from $150 based on kWh savings per ton achieved from replacing a less efficient system with a more efficient system in accordance with federal minimum efficiency standards, up to $2,000 for the most efficient units available. This rebate does not apply to window units.

Members must submit a copy of their invoice or installation receipt or applications will not be accepted.

For any rebate amount over $600, members will be required to submit a W-9. The minimum efficiency requirements as of 2023 for the southern part of the United States is no less than 15 SEER.

The rebate schedule is:

  • 15 SEER AC Unit — $200 Rebate
  • 16 SEER AC Unit — $750 Rebate
  • 17 SEER AC Unit — $1,500 Rebate
  • Greater Than 17 SEER AC Unit — $2,000 Rebate
