An area resident and a Mohave member since 1982, John Elkins was appointed District 3 Director in July, 2010. He served as District 1 Director from 1995 through June, 2010.

Elkins has completed a National Rural Electric Cooperative Association program of courses to become a Certified Cooperative Director, a recognized measurement of competency on key current issues as well as a Board Leadership Certificate. Elkins regularly updates skills through course training and workshops in the electrical utility field.

Elkins served four years in the U.S. Navy from 1961 through 1964. He earned a degree from Ventura College in Ventura, CA, and has extensive professional education in real estate and business management. He is a professional Realtor® and has been the owner/broker of his own real estate company in Fort Mohave since 1987.

Elkins is a member of the Bullhead City/Mohave Valley Board of Realtors®, Arizona Association of Realtors®, and National Association of Realtors®. He also serves on the school board for Mohave Valley Elementary District #16. Elkins was a director of the American Petroleum Institute between 1978 and 1982.

As an active member of the local community, Elkins has been a member of numerous civic and service organizations, including Mohave Valley Chamber of Commerce, Bullhead City Elks Lodge, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and EL Zaribah Shrine.
