A Cooperative Christmas Story
MEC Operations Crew Help Bring a Brighter Christmas to One Local Family
Mohave Electric Cooperative’s operations crew have been making a local single parent’s Christmas a little easier for the past few years. By donating what they could collectively, MEC crews then reach out to local churches and day care centers to help identify a family that needs a little help over the holiday season.
This year, a woman who works at a Tri-State area church was asked if she could use some help providing gifts for her and her family. According to the crew members who made the request, as soon as the question came out the woman broke down in tears, stating how she was unsure how she and her small children were going to be able to enjoy Christmas.
Thanks to the generosity of the MEC operations crew – also members of IBEW Local 769 – three children, including a boy and a girl, ages five and three respectively, as well as a one-year-old son, had a Merry Christmas in 2017. Their mom will also be able to breathe easier after the holiday season, as $200 was put toward her electric bill.
